Geriatric Psychiatry Evaluation Clinic (GEC)

The UCLA Geriatric Psychiatry Evaluation clinic is a weekly year-long continuity care clinic for Geriatric Psychiatry Fellows and other trainees to provide advanced, specialty psychiatric care and management of older adults with primary psychiatric disorders and psychiatric conditions associated with degenerative brain diseases.

Electroconvulsive Therapy rotation

The UCLA ECT treatment program is located within the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Fellows participate through performing ECT treatments as well as providing inpatient and outpatient ECT consultations under the supervision of ECT attending physicians. ECT is a favorable option for older adults with refractory mood and/or psychotic disorders who do not respond to medication or cannot tolerate medication side effects.

GRECC Interdisciplinary Clinic

The GRECC Psychiatry clinic is an integrated care clinic embedded within the Geriatric Medicine Clinic, with an interdisciplinary team of professionals and trainees from Geriatric Medicine, Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychology, Social Work, and Pharmacy. The clinic provides consultation or ongoing primary care management for frail older adults with multiple, co-morbid conditions, functional decline, and cognitive impairment.

Memory/Neurobehavior Clinic

This  is a joint Neurobehavior and Memory  clinic for learning advanced skills in diagnosis of and treatment for a wide range of cognitive disorders.  

Movement Disorders Interdisciplinary Clinic

This outpatient consultative service embedded in Neurology’s Movement Disorders Clinic to diagnose and treat non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, including dementia, apathy, mood disorders and behavioral disturbances. Fellows will also interface with the Neurology Team to develop knowledge and skills about a) interpreting the movement disorders neurologic exam, b) differential diagnoses of cognitive disorders with motor symptoms and c) optimizing pharmacotherapy to treat these commonly missed disorders.

Sepulveda VA Community Living Center and Palliative Geriatric Psychiatry

Palliative and Long-Term Care at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Community Living Center: Fellows evaluate frail, older patients with complex psychiatric and behavioral conditions in the long-term care setting and inpatient hospice unit. Fellows participate in clinical, interdisciplinary rounds with geriatric medicine and the palliative care primary care team to develop advanced clinical skills to manage the behavioral care of palliative and hospice patients.  Fellows develop expertise in medical-legal evaluation of patients who lack complex decision-making capacity.
